Riley Latzke, BS

Psychotherapist Intern

I believe each person is unique and they need to be meet with a unique perspective that encourages them to be themselves. My goal is to provide a space where you are free to be you, allowing you to express all the aspects that make your life colorful and may even one dare to say “weird.” This is done by cultivating a space that is free of judgement and criticism. Which is also safe, comfortable, encouraging, and compassionate. Yet is still honest to help you undergo life changing transformation. I believe in a world of self-growth and development through either small or large changes within our lives. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families by providing a holistic approach to a variety of “quirks,” including depression, anxiety, stress management, grief, and self-esteem.

My Story

I am a strong believer that not one method fits everyone. I mean think how boring the world would be if we were all the same. With that being said, I will follow an individualized approach when tailoring a treatment plan to meet your needs and goals. No matter what journey or are on or the place within that journey. I will meet you wherever you are and walk alongside you. No matter if it is your first time coming to therapy or you have experience with therapeutic services in the past. Every treatment decision will be tailored to your specific journey. Through this process you will see an integration of techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based counseling modalities, person-centered therapy, family-based counseling, and motivational interviewing.

Professional Experience

My philosophy is simple, “helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person: -unknown. I have always known I wanted to help people; I want to watch people succeed and grow into the best versions of themselves. That is where I found clinical meatal health and counseling. Mental health is a critical pillar to wellness. Yet, it is not embraced like physical health. It is so normal to go to the doctors when you have a physical illness. Yet, we never put our mental health first when it comes to our wellness. I strive to make a safe and comfortable space for individuals to be open about the challenges they are facing in our world. To cultivate a world where mental health is put first and is a priority within our lives. Our mental health is a defining aspect of who we are, how we relate to others, and how we react to the world around us. Throughout the process of individual, couple, or family growth, I want to be a guiding light for everyone to discover the best version of themselves. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Metropolitan State University. I continued my education to obtain my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling through Grand Canyon University.

Grief & Bereavement Counseling

Bereavement and grief aren’t light-hearted topics. Bereavement refers to the process of recovering from the death of a loved one, and grief is a reaction for any form of loss. Both encompass a wide range of emotions such as fear, anger and deep, deep sadness. The process of adapting to a loss can dramatically change from person to person, depending on his or her background, beliefs, relationship to the person who’s passed, and other factors. Common symptoms of grief can be physical, emotional or social.

"Mindfully Healing embraces a personal growth based model unlike a problem or deficiency based model of traditional mental health... Our clients experience this during their first session."

Why Private Pay is Beneficial for Some Clients?
  • Insurance does not cover relational difficulties such as couples and family therapy, they require a DSM-V diagnosis for one of the members. As a fee-for-service provider, I do not have to give you a mental health diagnosis.
  • Mental health diagnoses can follow you and be documented on health records and can result in affecting life insurance applications, health insurance applications and other benefits or services.
  • Together, we can determine how many times we meet instead of the insurance company making that decision.
  • Since a treatment plan, notes and billing information are not being released to an insurance company, a greater amount of confidentiality is in place for you.
