My Story
Professional Experience
I enjoy working with adult individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, career challenges, and questions of meaning and purpose. I also offer treatment to couples seeking pre-marital counseling or those seeking to address communication difficulties, unhealthy conflict, emotional disengagement, issues around intimacy, and other challenges.
I have provided mental health services in various settings: larger non-profit organizations, traditional therapy clinics, in-patient facilities, and in clients’ homes. I have seen clients with mild, moderate, and severe symptoms and with folks from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Having spent about twenty years in northern Minnesota and another twenty in the Twin Cities metro, I offer lived perspectives on rural areas, small towns, and the bigger city dynamics. I have gained insight into ways environmental and regional factors can impact mental health.
While my foundations are built on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I take an eclectic, integrative approach, drawing from other therapeutic modalities, depending on the specific client and circumstance. Regardless of my therapy approach leanings, in our sessions, your individuality and complexity will be respected. You are the expert on your life and experiences. The approaches we take in therapy will be tailored to you, as an individual. Together we will strive to build a strong collaborative, therapeutic alliance. As your therapist, I offer genuine care, curiosity, and belief in clients’ ability to bring about desired changes.

Services and Pricing
Why Private Pay is Beneficial for Some Clients?
- Insurance does not cover relational difficulties such as couples and family therapy, they require a DSM-V diagnosis for one of the members. As a fee-for-service provider, I do not have to give you a mental health diagnosis.
- Mental health diagnoses can follow you and be documented on health records and can result in affecting life insurance applications, health insurance applications and other benefits or services.
- Together, we can determine how many times we meet instead of the insurance company making that decision.
- Since a treatment plan, notes and billing information are not being released to an insurance company, a greater amount of confidentiality is in place for you.
